A small gathering of students, staff and members of the community assembled in the courtyard of Methacton High School on Thursday afternoon (April 8, 2021) for a tree planting ceremony hosted by the Methacton Black Student Union (BSU). The event was organized to mark the inaugural year and the continued growth of this newly formed club and to honor the memory of the late Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Club members, students and community members all took turns placing dirt around the roots of a birch tree. The event speakers included BSU President Steven Cadogan, BSU Club Officer Ian Kehinde, Dr. Janine Darby, President of the Methacton DEI Task Force, and Lower Providence Police Chief Michael Jackson.
