Meet Our Counselors
Alpha Range: A-B
Hi, I'm Mr. Peck. I have been a school counselor in Methacton since September 1996 at Arcola and moved to the high school in 2012. While I have not been a counselor for all of my career life, my focus has always been working with and helping people. I grew up in Delaware County, PA and graduated from Nether Providence High School (currently Strath Haven H.S.) in the Wallingford-Swarthmore School District. My undergraduate work was completed at both the University of Delaware and West Chester University majoring in Criminal Justice. I initially wanted to pursue a career in law enforcement where I would be able to work with and assist people. For several years I worked at Strawbridge's and Clothier in Loss Prevention(security) as a store detective, Assistant Loss Prevention Manager and Loss Prevention Manager. I went back to school to obtain my Masters in Educational Counseling from West Chester University and then worked for Montgomery County as a youth and family advocate at the Youth Center and also as a Juvenile Probation Officer. After working as a long-term substitute counselor at Kennett High School, I was hired as a counselor at Arcola in 1996. I have two awesome sons: Connor, and Kiernan. Outside of school I enjoy fishing, camping and backpacking and a variety of sports with my boys. I currently work with students whose last name begins with A to Cl. if you need to contact me I can be reached by phone at (610) 489-5000 ext 25032 or email wpeck@methacton.org.

Mission Statement
The mission of the School Counseling Office is to help each student consider a range of college options suited to his or her talents and interests and, ultimately, matriculate at a college that will be an excellent match. The counselors vigorously support our students’ applications to colleges that, overall, span a range of selectivity. As school educators we aspire to help students. We urge them to look beyond the prestige factor associated with the nation’s few most selective colleges, and to consider a variety of colleges that offer appropriate academic challenge as well as opportunities for personal growth and happiness. With this approach we honor the diversity of achievements, interests, aspirations, and backgrounds our students represent.
-
High School Profile
This information is used by college admissions personnel when reviewing our student transcripts during the application process. Admissions staff will be able to see what courses we offer, the levels in each subject area as well as our SAT and ACT averages. This assists them in determining how our students do within our academic community. Colleges will not compare our students to students in other high schools.

Dual Enrollment
Methacton School District and the Montgomery County Community College have partnered to offer dual enrollment classes here at the high school. The Dual Enrollment courses are an excellent opportunity to experience the rigors of a college level class while still in high school. These courses are also a tremendous bargain as compared to other schools that many of our students ultimately attend There are fees that are associated with these classes that are outlined in the Program Planning Guide. The current tuition rate for DE courses is noted there as well. Each summer the tuition fees are raised a few dollars by the board of the Montgomery County Community College. There is also a fee associated with the textbook that the student and family are responsible for. The fees will vary each year, depending on the course, whether the textbook is new, used or rented or if there is an on-line textbook utilized. The textbooks can be purchased from the Community College’s bookstore and further information can be obtained about purchasing them by contacting the bookstore at 215-641-6600.
