CEREMONIAL GROUNDBREAKING FOR NEW ARROWHEAD ELEMENTARY
A small gathering of students, staff, administrators, and community members gathered on January 22, 2021 to celebrate the start of construction for a new Arrowhead Elementary School. A video of the full program is posted here.
Superintendent of Schools Dr. David Zerbe led the program, which featured remarks from PA State Representative Joe Webster and Mr. Peter MacFarland, Chairman of the Lower Providence Township Supervisors. Other special guests included members of the Methacton Board of School Directors and current Arrowhead Elementary students who will be students when the new school opens in the Fall of 2022. Architectural renderings of the new school were display. The new $26.3M school will be constructed on the current Arrowhead Elementary School site and will be capable of fully supporting the district’s educational programs and community needs. It will continue to serve students in grades kindergarten through four.
The new 86,000 SF school will house a range of innovative spaces including activated corridors and commons spaces, a flexible STEM lab, dedicated art and music suites, and a library/media center with areas to support independent study and group activities. The current Arrowhead Elementary School opened in 1974.
