• Dear Methacton Families,

Please be advised that this is an IMPORTANT message regarding emergency planning efforts potentially impacting our area and school district regarding the upcoming World Meeting of Families and Papal visit in Philadelphia.

Lower Providence Police presented to the Methacton Board of School Directors information about the township’s emergency planning efforts related to the upcoming World Meeting of Families and Papal visit in Philadelphia. Based on their information, and in an abundance of caution, Superintendent Dr. David Zerbe would like to advise our families to begin planning for the possibility that schools may be closed, delayed, or dismissed early on Friday, September 25 and potentially Monday, September 28.

More information can be found on the township’s website at www.lowerprovidence.org

According to the information currently available, the school district has NOT made any predetermined decision on either of the days listed in the message. We will be communicating regularly with Lower Providence Police and will provide as much advanced notice as possible. If any change to the school schedule is to be communicated, it will occur through a SchoolMessenger call and will be posted on our website.

    We appreciate your cooperation.

    Thank you.
