Home and School Associations

Our Methacton Home and School Association is a group of dedicated Methacton parents that serves a critical function in fostering a strong sense of community within all of our schools. Working closely with teachers, administrators, and families to promote school spirit, the Home and School volunteers plan and execute meaningful activities to encourage positive interactions that are necessary for the social growth and mental health of our students. Throughout the year, volunteers fundraise in order to provide supplemental grants for teachers and special assemblies from guest speakers. The work that Home and School does is vitally important to our Methacton School District communities. Reach out to your student’s school to ask how you can join, today!

Mission Statement

It is the mission of the Methacton Home & School to supplement the educational environment and enhance the learning experiences of all students who attend the school and to create a positive image of our school within the community.

Objectives

The objectives of the Methacton Home & School shall be:

To promote open communications between the school, its teachers, administrators and families;
To raise funds for teacher, curriculum and student activities that will enhance the students’ school experience and to use such funds in a responsible and efficient manner;
To foster the relationship among Home & School, parents and faculty towards better education and development of the children in our schools;
To develop between educators and the general public such united efforts as will secure for every child the highest advantages in physical, mental and social education;
Develop and execute programs and activities which offer the opportunity for all students to enhance their academic, artistic and social experiences throughout the school year;
To provide support to administration, faculty and staff;
To support and encourage school spirit and pride;
To secure and maintain a nonaffiliated, nonprofit status;
Promote a good neighbor relationship within the local school and overall Methacton School District Communities.

Methacton Home and School Associations utilize the Private Parent Communication Portal - Konstella for all communications with parents.*

Signing up is simple, click the link Konstella.com and then in the top right hand corner use the "Find your School" wizard to walk you through the registration process.

These communications enable effective planning of special events and other support that preserves the fun and exciting school culture that our home and schools foster through hard work and cooperation with school leadership and staff.

Bus Driver Appreciation

The Methacton school district’s Home and School (H/S) organizations typically recognize the bus drivers during an annual breakfast buffet held at their bus depot.

Each year, a host school facilitates this effort. The schedule below has been devised alphabetically, as has been tradition. By referencing this schedule, we believe each school’s H/S organization can best plan their year’s activities and volunteer utilization needs. The schedule is offered with a few guidelines to consider when planning the event. If there is some just cause to trade host years, please let the District Council leadership know of the date swap so the schedule may be adjusted accordingly. The below represents the rotation of coordination responsibilities, as we now know it.

Planning Guidance:

The event is typically scheduled for the spring (April – May). The Transportation Administrator should be contacted for specifics (number of drivers to plan for, specific date / time, communication of notice to bus drivers, any requested menu items, volunteer staffing needs, replenishing, clean up, etc.)

Each school has traditionally donated $60 to this event (via check to the hosting school). Some items purchased in the past for breakfast included fruit, bagels with spreads, muffins, coffee with creamers, and pastries. Paper goods / plasticware were purchased, and banners, cards, and other ‘thank you’ expressions were included as part of the decoration.
