• Summer is here, and it's a great time to...

ALL students entering 7th and 8th grade at Arcola Intermediate School are required to complete two (2) summer reading books of his/her choice.   The books need to be in or close to the student's ZPD level.  Each student should know his/her level, but for students entering 8th grade, they are located on the booklogs housed in Google Classroom.  Each student is responsible for ensuring the chosen book has an AR quiz associated with it (use www.arbookfind.com) AND that they have not already taken an AR quiz on the book (on their personal bookshelf in Renaissance Place).

If a student is unable to find a quiz for their book, unable to pass the AR quiz for their book, OR unable to come to the summer testing sessions listed below; they may complete an alternate assessment and must follow all of the guidelines for this assessment to count for their summer reading.

In order to get the 20 points credit for summer reading (grade for 7th grade reading class OR 8th grade English class), a student must PASS the AR quiz (60% or above) OR complete the alternative assessment according to the guidelines provided.

The dates for Summer Reading Assessments are listed below. Note that a student may utilize the Arcola OR Skyview times.  Looking forward to seeing you this summer, and happy reading!

INCOMING 8TH GRADERS SHOULD BRING CHARGED CHROMEBOOKS TO ARCOLA FOR AR TESTING, IF POSSIBLE.  THERE IS LIMITED ACCESS TO COMPUTERS, SO WAIT TIMES COULD BE LONGER UNLESS YOU HAVE YOUR CHROMEBOOK WITH YOU. YOU MUST STILL COME AND SIGN IN, THEN YOU MAY SIT IN THE LIBRARY TO TAKE THE QUIZ.
