Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment
Dr. Mary M. Katona began her service as Methacton's Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment in January of 2014.
Prior to joining Methacton, Dr. Katona served as Assistant Superintendent for Twin Valley School District in Elverson, Pennsylvania. Her extensive curriculum and instruction experience includes service in Bethlehem Area School District as the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction and as Coordinator for English/Language Arts, as well as in Allentown City School District as an Academic Assistant Principal. She has also worked with colleges as an Assistant Professor of Education and Professional Development Coordinator. In all, she has more than 27 years of experience in education, with her first 12 years spent in the classroom as a high school English teacher.
Dr. Katona received her doctoral degree in educational leadership and management from Drexel University, her superintendent's letter of eligibility and principal's certification from Lehigh University, a masters' degree in education from East Stroudsburg University, and a bachelor of arts in English Communications from Allentown College of St. Francis de Sales (DeSales University).
