PSSA Parent Letter (released on March 4, 2024)
Dear Parent/Guardian of Student in Grades 3 through 8,
Your partnership in supporting STUDENT's success on the upcoming Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA) is incredibly important. These assessments serve as a critical measure to inform you, your child and your child’s teacher, about STUDENT’s current achievement level and academic growth.
What is PSSA Testing?
- The PSSA is a standardized test given to students in grades 3 through 8 on English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science.
- Participation in the PSSA is crucial for accurately assessing student growth and meeting state academic standards.
- PSSA results are essential for evaluating our school's performance and identifying areas for improvement.

Preparing for Success
- Conversations and assemblies will help students develop a positive mindset and set test expectations.
- Teachers will be actively promoting the PSSA within the classroom, providing students with the necessary resources and support to feel confident and prepared for the assessment.
- Students will collaborate on motivational posters to inspire and uplift each other during testing.
- Classroom testing environments will be customized to ensure students have the most optimal conditions for testing.
- We aim for a 95% participation rate and will celebrate each school's achievement with a grade level celebration!
