March 2023 - Methacton High School's Academic Decathlon team placed 6th in the 2023 State Championship held at Theil College. This is the highest Methacton has placed in over 20 years! The team's State Championship statistics are as follows:

• Senior, Alice Liang, was the 9th highest scorer out of over 200 students
• In the Scholastic Division:
  • 11th grader, Nanditha Patil, won a Silver medal in Science
  • 11th grader, Archie Lin, won a Bronze medal in Math
• In the Honors Division:
  • 12th grader, Haley Chung, won a Silver medal in Speech
  • 12th grader, Sameeksha Panda, won a Silver medal in Essay
  • 12th grader, Alice Liang, won a Bronze medal in Science
  • Sameeksha and Alice tied for the Gold medal in Math, each scoring an astonishing 94% in this event!

In addition to the medal winners, Methacton had strong support from the rest of the State Championship Qualifiers: 12th grader, Anna Lu (Scholastic Division), 10th grader, Stephen McGrath (Varsity Division) and 12th grader, Logan Greer (Varsity Division).

Congratulations to the whole team, who have been working since September studying over 900 pages of resource material, reading a full novel and preparing a memorized speech.
