• Methacton High School Home & School Association 2017-2018

     

    Welcome to another exciting year at MHS! As parents of MHS students, YOU are the Home & School Association. We encourage you to stay informed by attending H&S meetings and signing up for e-alerts.  We also encourage you to support our fundraisers and all the activities that MHS has to offer, including the sporting events, theatre productions, music programs, art shows and other student-centered events such as the Film Festival, the “Mr. Methacton” competition and Mini-thon, to name a few.

     

    H&S Meetings

    H&S Meetings are held each month in the library and alternate between mornings and evenings. Please check the calendar on the back of this letter for dates and times. H&S meetings are the perfect time to find out what is happening at our school. This year we are looking for a few unique locations for some of our meetings.  Look for updates with details on our website and in e-alerts.  Meetings feature reports from our Principal, Guidance Department, teachers and school board. The atmosphere is informal and conversation is encouraged.  All are welcome!  Next meeting is November 9, 2017, at 7:pm in the High School Library.                 We hope to see you there!!

     

    E-Alerts - Konstella

    MHS H&S works with the MHS administration to distribute the daily announcements to the parents of MHS students. If you have the type of teenager who sometimes forgets to pass along information, we strongly suggest you subscribe to e-alerts from the H&S Association. Step-by-step instructions may be found on our H&S webpage. Need help? Contact a Home & School officer or stop by the H&S table at Back-to-School Night for assistance.

    **New this Year - we are moving away from E-Alerts to Konstella.  Both will be used until parents are signed up for Konstella - Click on the Konstella tab for information on how to sign up.

     

    No-Frills Fundraiser

    The MHS H&S counts on the generous donations of all of its families to carry out our programs every year.  The average family donation last year was $50.00.  Any amount is appreciated, but we could do SO much more if we exceed our fundraising goal.

     

    Giant A+ Rewards

    Sign up for Giant A+ Rewards in September.  Each time you use your bonus card when shopping at Giant, money will automatically be given to our Home & School.  Click on the Giant A+ tab for information on how to sign up, or go to the Giant website.  18% of the funds raised last year came from the Giant Program.

     

    Did you know? . . .

    • 47% of our money goes directly to our students, including donations to each of the four classes, Senior Awards and the Winning Warriors program and other student support.
    • 22% goes to fund Mini-Grants for our teachers, clubs and organizations.  Unfortunately, each year we have to turn down many requests because there isn’t enough money available.
    • 15% of our budget goes toward Staff Appreciation through our annual “Souper Luncheon” and Staff Appreciation Luncheon.
    • 16% goes to other miscellaneous expenses and contributions to other organizations in our school community, such as Methacton Post Prom, Methacton Coordinating Council and the Transportation breakfast hosted by the district.
