Mathematics Department
Constantly changing technology is influencing careers in all fields. To prepare our students for these new and exciting opportunities, Methacton offers a mathematics program with a variety of courses combining traditional theory with practical application. Because of the sequential development of the mathematics curriculum, students should attain above 70% in a previous course before advancing to a more difficult level. Students with lower grades are encouraged to repeat courses in order to master concepts required for sequential classes. Students who pass Algebra I with less than 70% can be admitted to the Applied Math program with a parent conference and Department Chairperson approval. Students who have not passed Algebra I in 9th grade may enter the applied math sequence as 10th graders.
