Working Papers
The child must be a resident of 14 & 15 year olds are issued an employment certificate. 14 & 15 year olds must obtain new working papers for each different job they hold until they are 16. 16 & 17 year olds will receive a transferable work permit. The work permit (blue card) can be used for any job they hold until they are 18 years old or graduate from high school. When a student is applying for working papers (regardless of age) it is a two part procedure. Part I: 1. Download an application. Either student or parent may pick up form. However, parent MUST SIGN THIS FORM IN THE PRESENCE OF SOMEONE IN THE OFFICE. Parents may do this at the time the application is picked up or when student returns it. If parent or guardian is unable to attend, they must instead sign the application in the presence of a notary public and have the application notarized. 2. Student must show proof of age, either at the time the application is picked up or when it is brought back completed. Acceptable documents include birth certificate, baptismal certificate, passport or driver’s license. 3. Student must have prospective employer fill out section “C”. 4. Student must have physician complete section “D”. Part II: 1. Student must return the completed application to the office. 2.
