Melissa E. Gorla is principal of Skyview Upper Elementary School. Gorla was appointed principal of Skyview in 2008, after serving the district as principal of Audubon Elementary School for three years.  She joined the administration at Methacton after having served as Assistant Principal of Perkiomen Valley Middle School East for two years. Prior to that, Gorla was a German teacher in Perkiomen Valley.

During the course of her tenure at Perkiomen Valley, Gorla worked to develop a Peer Tutoring Program at Perkiomen Valley, and served on the District's Instructional Support Team, Leadership Council, Student Assistance Team, and Steering Committee. She also developed comprehensive training for administrators in differentiated instruction at Perkiomen Valley, in addition to making a related presentation at the Pennsylvania Association for Staff Development Council's annual spring conference in 2004.

Gorla serves as treasurer of the Montgomery County Principals and Supervisors Association, and is a member of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, the National Staff Development Council and the Pennsylvania Association for Elementary and Secondary School Principals. She has presented on both the national and state level regarding faculty meetings as forums for professional development.

Gorla has worked with staff at Audubon to develop the school's vision and to maintain an excellent learning environment where students and staff can grow both academically and socially. She is a firm believer in continuous learning and improvement.

Gorla lives in Collegeville with her husband Joe and her two sons, Joey and Chris. She is an advocate of Alzheimer's Disease research, participating in the annual Memory Walk.
