School Resource Officer Program

The School Resource Officer program (SRO) is a nationally accepted program involving the placement of a law enforcement officer within the educational environment. The primary focus of the SRO program is education and prevention, providing valuable insight for parents, students and educators on important community issues such as crime and substance abuse. The program, a collaboration between the Methacton School District and Lower Providence Township, enables a safe learning environment for students while improving the relationships between law enforcement personnel and youth.
Since September 2006, a Lower Providence Township Police Officer has been assigned to Lower Providence Schools in the Methacton School District, partially through a three-year grant administered by the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime & Delinquency.
Officer Cherelle Cutting began her service as a Methacton School District SRO in 2016. Officer Cutting provides services to all the public schools within Worcester Township.

Officer Cutting has been a law enforcement officer since 1999 and started her career at West Chester University with the Department of Public Safety. She earned a bachelor of science degree in Criminal Justice from West Chester University.   In 2001, she joined the Lower Providence Township Police Department and had been a member of the patrol division before assuming the position of SRO at Methacton High School.  Officer Cutting is married and currently lives in Lower Providence Township.

Officer Cutting's office is located in Methacton High School.
