Students in Methacton High School may elect 2 semesters of
guitar. Classes learn basic chords, Barre chords, folk songs, rock songs and various styles of picking and strumming. Basic music theory and note reading is presented, enabling students to move to the next course of study in Music Theory and Composition.
Students who complete the guitar curriculum go on to study music in college, play guitar for leisure and some even form their own bands. The Methacton High School
jazz band has positions, by audition, for both guitar and bass guitar.
